NIBA's President Outlines Strategic Goals for Belting Organization

John-shelton3We congratulate John Shelton, president of Belt Power, to his election to president of NIBA (The Belting Association).

He has been a long time leader and supporter of this industry organization that seeks to further the interests of all fabricators, distributors and manufacturers of belting and related products.

NIBA is a worldwide organization that provides a forum for the exchange of information, training and technical seminars, and an annual convention for networking.

This year, the annual convention will be held at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort in Indian Wells, California, September 17 – 19th, 2015.

As busy as John is running Belt Power, based in Atlanta, he is proud to lead an organization of volunteers with a wealth of knowledge who lend their time and energy to educating members and promoting their industry.

NIBA continually assesses their strategic goals and every three years the executive board assembles a team to review the past three year’s successes and formulate the next three years objectives of the organization. When we met in 2013, we developed strategic objectives for the 2014-2016 period.

These major goals are broken into groups by committee. We are well on our way to completing many of these objectives through the hard work of the volunteer NIBA members who commit their time and resources for the organization.

These important people and their companies devote great amounts of time and even their resources toward completing these goals. Without those people and company support, these would not be possible to achieve. These initiatives are led by each committee chair person.

  • New and Improved Lightweight Training.
  • Improved Training Program delivery methods and revised course offerings.
  • Build the NIBA brand recognition and value in the eyes of members, prospective members, and end users.
  • Develop value propositions for each membership category both nationally and internationally.
  • Continue to use new communications methods to increase the breadth and depth of communications within member companies and increase the effectiveness of member communications.
  • Look to develop additional menu items and increase participation to complement the success of scholarships. Consider offerings of interest to both manufacturers and distributors, both local and global.
  • Develop new offerings in combination with the convention that will encourage member companies to send additional people to attend at least a portion of the convention.
