The Dangers of Storing Credit Cards

Credit-card-info-theftOur secure payment processing solution provider, 3Delta Systems, first published the article, The Dangers of Storing Credit Cards Yourself, in 2013. Unfortunately, it’s even more relevant today and they have updated the article with sobering statistics.

Who are the prime targets?

Small businesses have just as much to fear from online cyber threats as their large corporate counterparts. According to the 2015 Internet Security Threat Report (a free download via Symantec), 34% of all targeted attacks were aimed at businesses with fewer than 250 employees, compared to only 18% in 2011.

Who causes the majority of data breaches?

At 49%, attackers cause the majority of breaches, up from 34% in 2013. 21% were due to theft or loss of a computer or drive, which are preventable if the data is encrypted.

How do you protect credit card data?

With the chances of a data breach on the upswing, it’s critical to keep your and your customer’s data secure. Tribute, Inc. has partnered with 3Delta Systems to offer customers a secure payment processing solution and PCI compliance.
