The Association for Hose & Accessories Distribution Launching Women in NAHAD Initiative

NAHAD Logo 2_c(member)The Association for Hose and Accessories Distribution (NAHAD) is pleased to launch one of its newest initiatives, the Women in NAHAD (WIN) Program, during the 2017 Annual Convention.

The program was created to provide a forum for women in the hose distribution industry to network with their peers and discuss key issues facing women in the marketplace today.

Nahad-board-2016-3As the first female Vice President and taking the helm of NAHAD in 2018, Karen Brandvold, CFO and VP of Omni Services, Inc. in Worcester, MA, thought it was important to gather women in the industry together to discuss issues that affect women and to learn practical solutions from each other.

"Our goal is to build WIN into a program where women entering our industry can learn tips from seasoned veterans and where our established professionals can also learn and network with others as we discuss workplace developments and other key topics. Without making the pun it implies, I think this is a 'WIN' for NAHAD and everyone else involved," stated Brandvold.

NAHAD will launch this program with a networking breakfast where women can discuss the latest industry and workforce development issues. NAHAD Executive Committee Member Karen Brandvold will lead this session, which will also include special guest speaker, Valerie Alexander.

Valerie Alexander is a nationally recognized speaker, author and corporate trainer on the topics of happiness, happiness in the workplace and the advancement of women. She is a former securities lawyer, investment banker, screenwriter and director, and is the founder and CEO of Goalkeeper Media, maker of the Happy Couples Bot.

Women-in-NAHADMs. Alexander will lead a discussion on How Women Can Succeed in the Workplace (Despite Having “Female Brains”). In this provocative talk, she speaks candidly about how the value placed on instinctively female behavior can limit women’s success, particularly in male-dominated fields, and what we can do to overcome those limitations.

In addition to this discussion, WIN will offer additional insights throughout the year to help support the professional development of women in the hose and hose accessories business and offer insights for companies to attract top-level female talent.

NAHAD members include companies, worldwide, engaged in the distribution and manufacture of all types of hose, tubing, couplings, fittings, clamps and related accessories serving the industrial marketplace.  For information on joining NAHAD, click here.
