The second annual Manufacturing Day is tomorrow, October 4th.
One of the main challenges facing manufacturers today is a growing gap in skilled labor. To address this issue, more young people must be inspired to pursue manufacturing careers.
Having students participate in Manufacturing Day events is a wonderful opportunity to start this conversation and begin ensuring the future of manufacturing in the U.S.
MFG DAY is a group of industry sponsors and co-producers designed to amplify the voice of individual manufacturers and coordinate a collective chorus of manufacturers with common concerns and challenges. This group (FMA, NAM, MEP, Manufacturing Institute, ISM, SciFi Channel) has designed an educator toolkit to help in addressing the issue of the lack of skilled labor.
Manufacturing Day is for students, parents, educators, media, customers, suppliers and the community at large. Visitors will learn about real career opportunities, training and resources. In addition, manufacturers will learn about business improvement resources and services delivered through manufacturing extension partnerships.
There are hundreds of companies, organizations, associations and schools hosting Manufacturing Day events including 3D Systems, Eaton Corporation, Festo, Pall Aeropower Corporation, Parker Hannifin, Rockwell Automation, among many others. Click here to find an event in your area.
