October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). NCSAM began in 2004 as a collaborative effort between government and industry to provide people with the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online.

Since its inception, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) have led NCSAM, and the effort has grown exponentially, reaching consumers, small and medium-sized businesses, corporations, educational institutions, and individuals worldwide.

Two-steps-aheadTheir campaign, STOP, THINK, CONNECT, has great resources and tips on how to implement better protection for your digital life in their Two Steps Ahead campaign which advocates and explains how to do two factor authentication.

Stay Safe Online, powered by National Cyber Security Alliance, has a wealth of articles posted this month by a variety of cyber security experts on how to keep your business and personal data safe and secure.

Here are some of the topics covered this month:

3delta-systems-color-logoTribute Inc.'s secure credit card payment solution provider, 3Delta Systems, has a good article on their blog on How Every Organization Needs a Culture of Cybersecurity to Help Prevent Attacks.

Also, if you have children, OnGuardOnLine.gov is a good site for tips and conversation starters regarding online privacy and safety practices for your kids.

Check out NCSA's handy infographic on creating a culture of cybersecurity in your business.
