IFPE and CONEXPO-CON/AGG Team Up to Help Veterans Find Quality Jobs

Ifpe-2017-logoThe manufacturing and construction industry employs many veterans and this year CONEXPO-CON/AGG and IFPE showed its solidarity with U.S. military veterans by hosting several fundraising events to raise over $100,000 to benefit their charitable partner, the Call of Duty Endowment, a non-profit organization that helps veterans secure high-quality jobs after their service.

Helping Veterans: The Call of Duty Endowment

Call-of-Duty-LogoThe Call of Duty Endowment is a nonprofit organization founded by Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, in 2009 to help veterans secure high-quality jobs after their military service and to raise awareness of the value vets bring to the workplace. Research shows that veterans actually perform higher and have a lower turnover rate than average in the civilian workforce.

“Because many veterans work in the construction and manufacturing industries and the skill set they bring is a great fit for the many opportunities in our industry, CONEXPO-CON/AGG and IFPE teamed up again with the Endowment as the official charitable partner for the 2017 event,” explained Sara Truesdale Mooney, CONEXPO show director and vice president of exhibitions and business development for the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.

Veterans unemployed at higher rates than national average

Call-of-Duty-EndowmentDue to unemployment among post-9/11 veterans remaining 2.6 times greater than the national average, the endowment has doubled down on its mission and set a new goal of placing 50,000 veterans in jobs by 2019. Every single dollar donated goes towards this important work, and just $600 helps a veteran find a high quality job.

CoD-backtoworkThe endowment has placed more than 29,000 veterans in jobs to date by finding and funding the best nonprofits in the country by endowing funds to a host of non-profit organizations focused on connecting veterans with high-quality jobs.

“We’re so grateful for CONEXPO-CON/AGG & IFPE’s remarkable support of our veterans,” said Dan Goldenberg, executive director of the Call of Duty Endowment. “Every dollar received by the endowment will go directly towards the most effective and efficient veteran job counseling services in America. These will be dollars well-spent.”

The endowment also provides support to unemployed or transitioning veterans by providing mentor opportunities, free resume help, plus job boards and networking opportunities.
