Tri-C's focus on training for the manufacturing industry

Over the past year, Cuyahoga Community College has provided training to more than 10,000 individuals through its workforce training programs.

Alicia-Booker-Alcoa-TriC-PartnershipMs. Booker has expanded training options for Tri-C students and created “stackable” programs that offer, for example, a welding boot camp helping employers fill gaps right away, plus the option of a one-year welding credit certificate for more comprehensive education.

Working with the Alcoa Foundation, Ms. Booker helped to obtain a grant last year to upgrade Tri-C’s revamped manufacturing center’s lab with computer controlled machines, robotic arms and other technological tools vital to training tomorrow’s workforce. The new equipment will make Tri-C students more proficient with smart manufacturing methods, better preparing them for in-demand industrial jobs requiring increased technical skills.
